Made by Mara – Métis Artist

After having my boys I wanted to connect more to our culture so that they would grow up with that cultural connection. For me, that started with art. I love creating Métis material culture pieces, as well as more contemporary jewelry. I work with a wide variety of materials including fabric, beads, quills, horsehair, fish scales, hair and leather.

What is your dream project?

I love all aspects of creating and sharing knowledge. I hope to be able to connect with more Métis artists to expand on my skills, as well as learn more of the culture and stories behind the art forms.
