Kate Bridger

Iโ€™ve been manipulatingโ€”stretching, scraping, tearing, cutting, fraying, burningโ€”fabrics to create fabric art for over 35 years. I have stitched rusty old cars, landscapes around the world, houses, abstracts, streetscapes, fruit, flowers and even a kitchen sink!

I have remained loyal to my practice even as life made other demands … I’ve raised two sons, owned a gallery for ten years, worked as a Realtor, written 4 books … but I always return to fabric. Most recently, I have begun working on three-dimensional pieces which is providing me with new and tricky challenges which is what I feel I need right now.

Fun fact!

Confession: I really can’t draw!

What is your dream project?

I feel I’ve lived many of my ‘dreams’ already but, if I could add another one, it would be to ‘stitch’ my way across the country … harvesting images of people, landscapes, architecture and putting them all together as a special tribute to this country.
