I have enjoyed making crafts, drawing, painting, and scrapbooking for as long as I can remember. There is not likely a time that I do not have a project, most likely multiple projects, that I am working on at one time.
I was inspired to start making felt items after gifting my daughter a play kitchen for Christmas when she was 5 years old. I started by making some felt donuts, cupcakes and cookies so she could have her own little bakery. I continued to get inspired by her and wanted to expand on her play skills and so I created other food items and things have naturally expanded from there. Requests for some of these items started coming in via friends and acquaintances which eventually led to the debut of “Fun Felts Factory”.
Every item is done by hand from drawing and cutting the patterns, cutting the felt pieces for each project and hand stitching them. Some projects can be quite complex and time consuming however having a happy face on the other end receiving the item makes it all worth while.
Fun fact!
I am French Acadian and have been living in BC for 20 years now. I love to travel and have I have had the opportunity to live and work in Japan and England which gave me the chance to explore a lot of Europe. Interestingly, while living in Japan, I helped teach English to little children via sewing projects. 🙂
What is your dream project?
My dream project would be to create ‘do it yourself’ mobiles. I have received many requests for a variety of themed baby mobiles over the years I would envision having multiple different felt items (animals, trees, mountains, clouds, etc) available to choose from to inspire others to put together their own creations. I also have an interest in elaborating the work I do with felt and experiment making felt pictures/paintings to frame.
