Emily Wilson Art & Illustration

I am a local artist, born and raised in Prince George. I studied at McGill University and at Vancouver Island School of Art, then returned to my hometown where I create work inspired by my life among the landscapes of northern BC. You may have seen my exhibition, Up Around the Bend, at Two Rivers Gallery in summer 2023, which took viewers on a folk art-inspired road trip along Highway 16. My paintings and illustrations explore themes of memory, place and human connection to nature. My process is usually simple – I typically work with just a paintbrush, gouache paint and paper. My hand-painted artwork is then adapted into illustrations for greeting cards, prints, stickers, stationery and more.

Fun fact!

Before I worked as an artist I spent some time working as a forest firefighter with BC Wildfire Service. I often draw upon this experience in my art!

What is your dream project?

I am a daydreamer and I get excited about so many things! I’d love to experiment with making patterns, printing my illustrations on fabric, illustrating for a magazine, or creating a large mural.
