Situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, Two Rivers Gallery is a centre for contemporary Canadian art and creativity in Prince George and the Central Interior.
Clare Singleton is an artist based in the rural community of Endako, BC, whose practice includes both writing and visual art. The exhibition, Real Northern Living, brings together a selection of work from a project by the same name, through which Singleton has documented the life of her friend, Josef Liska, for over seven years. Singleton draws attention to tasks like logging, chopping wood, preparing for winter, living in a canvas tent, and starting a tractor at -25, that are all aspects of Liskas daily life. In the spirit of genre painting, Singleton offers up a picture of what it truly means to live off the beaten path.
