Situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, Two Rivers Gallery is a centre for contemporary Canadian art and creativity in Prince George and the Central Interior.
Misa Nikolic is a multi-disciplinary artist originating from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Now
teaching several art-focused studies in Prince George, Nikolic brings a unique worldview
into his personal art practices. He invites viewers to immerse themselves in thought as
they view his photographs along the Galleria walls.
Natural Histories is an exhibition that is presented in an intentionally vague form, giving
viewers minimal context to the pieces shown. Nikolic offers a sense of freedom in how
one may interpret each photo, allowing the audience to create their own stories
through his lens. A quiet statement lies beneath; Nikolic has transformed his roots
painting realism, taking to the medium of photography and utilizing a more painterly
technique in the images he captures. Through this, we uncover the realization that
painting and photography may not be so different after all.
