Mîtawîtân (Let’s Play)!

July 11, 2021
August 8, 2021
Mîtawîtân (Let’s Play)! is a community engaged project by printmaker and textile artist Catherine Ruddell that was envisioned for KidzArt Day in the Community. Catherine is a visual artist of Métis and settler descent who currently lives and works on the ancestral lands of the Dane-zaa in Treaty 8 Territory (Fort St. John, BC). Over the month of June we invite the community to engage with the Michif language and the art of printmaking though this socially distanced collaborative project. Catherine has developed free Print Kits which include materials for three different types of stamps and two Michif language cards that describe summer activities. Learn how to make stamps from string, fun-foam, and cardboard, and use the Michif language cards for inspiration. Then, bring two of your unique stamps to the gallery for Catherine to use in a collaborative print installation on the Rustad Galleria walls.
