National Ribbon Skirt Day Workshop

Join Mandy Calvert and Indigenous programmer Crystal Behn for a morning and afternoon of ribbon skirt making and teachings. In this workshop you will learn to make a little girl’s ribbon skirt with a matching skirt for her doll. Choose your fabric and ribbons and choice of adding a special touch of side ribbon bows.

Light snacks and refreshments included.

Choice of Barbie size or American Doll size. Each fee will include 1 little girls ribbon skirt and 1 matching doll ribbon skirt.

Mandy Calvert is Metis with her maternal roots Ojibwa and her paternal roots Cree. She has been sewing for many years specializing in dance and figure skating clothing. She wanted a connection back to her culture and started her passion for ribbon skirt making and beadwork while passing on the significance and traditions surrounding the teachings of ribbon skirts. Mandy is a part of the UNHBC Drum group that gathers every Monday evening outside the Prince George hospital.
