Connections: A Mixed Media Workshop Exploring Self Expression

Have you ever wanted to create art that is your personal, maybe passionate expression of a subject important to you? Here is your opportunity to work in a safe and nurturing environment while exploring mediums, images and self-expression. Betty Kovacic will introduce concepts of self-expression through an open-ended mixed media project. Participants will explore their personal connections with the Earth and her sisters Water and Air.

Many drawing and painting mediums and materials are provided. However, feel free to bring one or two other mediums or colours and your favourite brushes. Please include an adventurous and inquisitive spirit in your art kit.

Betty Kovacic’s work is informed by her quest for art, her fascination with all aspects of the human condition, and a passionate desire to create dialogue about a myriad of topics. It also signifies her compulsion to explore her creativity.

Betty is a veteran of numerous touring solo and group exhibitions in British Columbia and Alberta. Her projects and art have drawn much acclaim. Betty’s work has received many awards and grants from numerous regional, provincial, and national organizations and foundations. She was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012.  

Betty’s art and projects have drawn local, national, and international media attention. The Globe and Mail featured her, “A Roomful of Missing Women,” in 2006.  Her work has been featured in academic presentations in Canada and South Africa. Kovacic’s art has added a unique dimension in numerous public, private, and corporate collections in Canada, and the United States.

Several Canadian and American magazines have published her work. “ThimbleBerry included her drawings and poetry in 2021 and 2022. “Time Sensitive I and II” were presented in the Yale University School of the Environment “SAGE” Spring 2024 edition.
