Virtual Artist Talk with Shoora Majedian & Banafsheh Modaressi

July 10, 2025
6:00 pm
7:00 pm
Join us virtually for an artist talk with Of Wounds And Songs artists Shoora Majedian and Banafsheh Modaressi.

Majedian’s practice intertwines cultural identity, personal narratives, and historical symbols to reflect on her diasporic experience. She draws from ordinary moments, often erased or censored, using them to create metaphors that question the materiality of painting and the representation of the body. Through various approaches, from narrative compositions to abstraction, her mark-making becomes a form of resistance, asserting space for resilience and defiance.

Modaressi is an Iranian-Canadian visual artist, filmmaker, and educator based in Vancouver. Her multidisciplinary approach combines design expertise and a mastery of various media, exploring the complexities of everyday life, delving into the intersections of personal experience, political upheaval, and the often-overlooked currents of violence that shape human existence.
A Zoom link will be sent to registrants, and will be available on our website and Facebook Live.
