MakerLab Tech & Design Classes

In Partnership With:

Rapid Prototyping with 3D Printing: Computer-Aided Design & Computer Simulation

Thursdays, Sept 14th, 21st & 28th:

5:30-8:30pm | 3 Sessions

Facilitator: Marc Schulmiester

Free Class Overview Seminar: Thursday Sept 7th, 6:00pm @ Makerlab 2RG

A basic introduction to simulation, scaling of designs and casting from 3D printed molds. In conjunction with Computer Aided Design and computer simulation, 3D printing can become part of a design process that can lead to machines and complex systems. Learn how to create test simulations of your design before you print and how to scale up and make your designs in alternate materials through casting. Topics that will be covered include Computer Aided Design (CAD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and 3D Printing.

Fee: $120 (Materials Included) Click here to register.

High Tech Gardening

Thursdays, Oct 12th, 19th & 26th:

5:30-8:30pm | 3 Sessions

Facilitator: Justin Pius

Free Class Overview Seminar: October 5th, 6:00pm @ Makerlab 2RG

Learn about how to implement three exciting gardening systems that can be used to grow food in the winter!

Allan Murr inventor of the Pyramid Garden will present his innovative plant growing system; CNC researchers will teach participants how to make their own rotating light to maximize plant growth. 3rd session will cover several techniques to reduce cost and increase productivity of plants in the north, such as spectrum specific lighting and thermally controlled planting beds.

Fee: $95 (Materials Included) Click here to register.

Artificial Intelligence: Wolfram Command Line Explorer Certificate

Thursdays, Nov 9th, 16th & 23rd

(Certificate course endorsed by Wolfram research)5:30-8:30pm | 3 Sessions

Facilitator: Bill Norman

Free Class Overview Seminar: November, 2nd, 6:00pm @ Makerlab 2RG

Wolfram Research is partnering with MarkerLab2RG to present the first Wolfram Language Command Line Explorer Certificate offered in BC using AI. Learn how to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence to enhance your own intelligence, without having to learn how to code!

  • 1st session gets everyone started with a general introduction to the Wolfram language.
  • 2nd session teaches how to use advanced imaging commands and have the computer identify and count objects. 3rd session introduces the Audio functionality of the wolfram language, AI identification of certain sounds, and how to make a pedal or synthesizer using a simple command.

A single command in wolfram can: make a fuzzy picture clear, count thousands of objects in a picture, remove background noise from an audio recording, and identify an object in a picture!

Option to bring a raspberry pi or a laptop or borrow one during the class.

Fee: $95 (Materials Included) Click here to register.
