Annerose Georgeson

Annerose Georgeson was born in Switzerland and as a child immigrated with her family to Canada. Since then she has stuck close to home–living on the same piece of farmland about a mile away from where she grew up. It is her place. It is where she feels at home. It is where the forest is. This exhibition of acrylic paintings focuses on everyday views of her local forest landscape. Georgeson observes and documents the subtle and dramatic changes that happen to the land over time–logging, farming, fires, the seasons and the pine beetles. The changes in the forest and the views of the altered countryside are often extremely ugly. In her painting, Georgeson seeks beauty in the ugliness, ultimately giving voice to the ability of the land to recover and regenerate.
