Make to Give & Repair Cafe

Make to Give

"Make to Give" is a free, monthly event; EVERYONE is welcome! It happens on the first Thursday of the month, from 5-9pm.

Make to Give connects community members, organizations, clubs, and groups with creative people who are willing to lend a hand. From reusable shopping bags to plastic bag sleeping mats for people sleeping on the street, to community garden planters - we are accepting project ideas! Participants get to learn new skills while making projects that will benefit the community.

There's no need to sign up, or fill out a form - just show up at MakerLab! We are always looking for more people to participate, as well as project ideas and free/low-cost materials to use. We like to focus on upcycling, reusing, or fixing disposable materials.

Currently, we are making reusable shopping bags for the PG Farmers' Market.

It's one more reason to come to MakerLab! Volunteer your time, and we'll show you how to make the project. Plus, your efforts will be giving back to the community. Meet new people and get creative with us!

Do you have an idea for a project? Would you like more details on the program? Get in touch! We would love to hear from you. Please email our MakerLab Coordinator (

Repair Cafe

Join us Thursday, November 16 for our very first Repair Cafe! Bring your broken stuff, and our mentors will help you fix it. Drop in anytime, 5-9pm!

There are over a thousand Repair Cafes in countries around the world; we are excited to bring the popular concept to Prince George! This program will help contribute to a more sustainable, environmentally-friendly society. We will help teach you the skills you need to fix your old or broken household items, so they don't end up in the trash (while saving you money!).

Repair Cafe is also a place for members of the community to meet, learn, and tinker together. It's hosted by MakerLab, in a supportive and social environment. Repairs can vary from electrical, clothing, furniture, toys, bicycles - just about ANYTHING!

Are you handy? Know how to fix things? Enjoy spending time with people? Then please consider volunteering as a mentor! Teach a lesson and pass along your skills - whether it's how to darn socks, or how to rewire a lamp. Help us combat 'throw-away culture,' and give back to the community.
